A Wedding Dress Preservation

Joy’s Angelina Faccenda gown is lovely. A mermaid gown with a cathedral-length veil, this duo is absolutely stunning. The bottom layer is fully covered with small sequins over a swiss dotted netting. There are layers of tulle and organza. The top layer is embroidered netting with details of silver threat. An array of sequins, crystals and 3-D flowers gather on the waist area, and sequins and crystals lie on the chest.

When we received the gown, there was make-up and perspiration stains inside the bodice, under the arms, and on the straps. Each layer also had dirty hemlines. We knew that this was one dress with which we had to be extra careful; the fabric and embellishments were very fragile. We hand cleaned the gown, using the wet process and carefully spot cleaned the veil. We then hand pressed the gown and veil. Finally we preserved it using the Museum Method.

Joy can now enjoy sharing her gown with anyone she would like!
