A Wedding Dress Story

Sarah Crossland married Matt MacFarland on September 30, 2017, at the Glasgow Farm in Fredericksburg, VA.

On her wedding day, Sarah wore this vintage-inspired, illusion-back lace gown by Willowby by Watters.

Sarah's vintage inspired wedding dress was perfect for her wedding day.

Sarah actually had her eye on it before they even got engaged, and when the dress went on sale at BHLDN (shortly after their engagement), she bought it without even trying it on first! Luckily, it fit like a glove—except for the fact that Sarah’s only 5’3″ and the dress was made for someone 6′ tall! She took the dress to Tang’s Alterations in Manassas, VA, where Tang worked her magic.

In keeping with their vintage/bohemian vibe, Sarah wanted to go with a non-traditional headpiece. She fell in love with this faux-rosemary and lavender flower crown from Folkstead, and asked the shop owner, Stacey Root, if she could make another one just like it.

There’s a moment in Shakespeare’s Hamlet where Ophelia says, “Rosemary, that’s for remembrance.” Sarah and Matt thought it would be the perfect touch for a day they would want to remember forever.
All of Sarah’s photos are by Love by Serena, and Sarah’s bouquet is by Petals & Twigs (also featuring some rosemary!).

Sarah’s Wedding Dress Preservation

Sarah’s champagne colored satin Willowby by Waters wedding dress with ivory and cream lace overlay and an illusion back had a moderately dirty hemline when we received it. There was some debris in the hem as well which we were able to remove. We gave her hemline a chemical pre-treatment and extensive wedding dress cleaning and were able to return it to a pristine condition.

Museum Method™ wedding dress preservation followed her expert wedding dress cleaning. This preservation method will allow her to be able to look at her gown at any time and all of her posterity will be able to enjoy it. Get a quote for your wedding dress preservation.
