A Wedding Dress Story by Sammie E
I was married to my sweetheart, Ian, on July 26, 2013 in Newberg, Oregon. One of the many blessings surrounding our wedding story was Ian’s mother, Jane, graciously making my wedding gown. We picked out everything she needed together at Fabric Depot in Portland, Oregon. Her creation was absolutely breathtaking, as well as practical and sentimental. My buttons were roses, a nod to my family’s heritage. The wedding dress bustled in such a way that the back looked smooth (instead of pilled up). The underlying material was a cotton silk blend, so it gave the appearance of a fine fabric but was breathable.
A Wedding Dress for Future Generations
It meant the world to me to be welcomed into the family with such a gift. I am truly thankful for Jane’s kindness as well as Heritage Garment Preservation for protecting my gown so that it may become a family heirloom.
