A Trio of Tradition

A Wedding Dress Story by Aloysia #2 The dress was custom made by a seamstress for Aloysia J Pecoul for her July 11, 1964 wedding at First Baptist Church of New Orleans. After the wedding, the dress was folded up and put in a clear plastic bag and then stored in a cedar chest. Aloysia J Pecoul on her wedding day, July 11, 1964 Twenty-three years later the yellowed dress was brought to a dry cleaners in hopes that it could be worn by her daughter. While the sleeves didn’t make it through the cleaning process, the color was more ivory than white. Aloysia P. Pertuit was able to...

Whimsical Wedding Dress For Kayla

An Engagement and Wedding Dress Story by Kayla K WHEN I GOT ENGAGED, IT WAS A MAGICAL MOMENT … My good friend Brittany had worked with my boyfriend Tyler on how he would propose to me and CATCH ME OFF GUARD. We had a few magazine shots for Cavender’s that was due that day, so we decided to shoot at NECHEZ RIVER RANCH, my favorite place! I needed someone to model boots for me and so I brought Tyler out to help. After all the magazine shots were done, Brittany yelled the “code word” and Tyler was behind me on one knee. When I turned around, he popped...

A Carol Hannah Collaboration Creates An Unforgettable Gown

A Wedding Dress Story By Hannah H I came across Carol Hannah’s two-piece Anthorium skirt set on Pinterest years before I had any intention of getting married but I saved it to my secret wedding board, just in case. When my (now) husband and I got engaged, we were living in New York City which conveniently is where Carol Hannah’s studio is. I reached out to schedule an appointment and told them what I was interested in. They sent back the preliminary pricing on the Anthorium skirt and my heart sank. I went into wedding planning with a modest dress budget and the Anthorium...

90’s Lazaro Couture Gown Sees More Happy Days!

Wedding Dress StoryBy Noreen P. I found my gown through a resale boutique in Philadelphia back in 1995. I had been shopping a bit by then but absolutely fell in love with this gown when I tried it on! It was a Lazaro dress that had only been worn once before. My mom and I were together, and we bought the dress on the spot; the memory of that day is really special to me. My husband and I were married on a crazy, beautiful day in May 1995. The ceremony was at my childhood church, and the reception was outdoors at Bartram’s Garden in Philadelphia...

A 50th Anniversary Wedding Dress Restoration

A Wedding Dress StoryBy: Cheryl F. “My wedding gown story began in May 1969 when I became engaged and started looking for a wedding gown for my November wedding.  I first went to a bridal shop above a jewelry store in Ontario, CA.  I tried on several gowns and found one I really liked but since it was a summer gown, it had to be ordered within a few days.  I couldn’t decide if it was the ‘one’ and wanted to look around at other shops. The deadline for ordering came and passed and I still had not found a wedding gown that I liked as well. At...

Megan’s Intimate Maui Wedding

A Wedding Dress StoryBy: Megan G. “The gown was purchased at a bridal salon in Boston [by designer Anne Barge] and it was a wedding gift from one of my closest friends. I wasn’t going to buy a gown because I’m not usually excited about wedding things, but she insisted I have one and she was right. I loved it, and I felt like a princess. I especially loved the tulle ball gown.   Megan and Jeff on the beach in Maui Our wedding was just the two of us, and we got married at the Maui Four Seasons.” Photographer: Chris James Evans We...

Kristina’s Lace Ball Gown Dress

A Wedding Dress StoryBy Kristina T. “I, Kristina, wore this dress on my wedding day on January 1st, 2018 in Tucson Arizona. I purchased the dress at Lilian Lottie Couture in Scottsdale Arizona. I added on the scarab lace on the bottom and the lace sleeves. I wanted a dress with lace but that was also more of a princess ball gown style. This bridal boutique had just what I was looking for and they were so generous to help me add the extra things I was looking for. This was the first wedding boutique I went to when I started my search. As soon as I put on the dress my...

A Winter Wedding in Grand Cayman

A Wedding Dress StoryBy: Rebecca R. “My husband Cody and I got married on December 8th on Seven Mile Beach in Grand Cayman. I wanted a dress that was classic and romantic, but was fun and modern enough to match our Caribbean setting. My mom, aunt, brother and I started shopping for my dress in Atlanta, where my husband and I live. This Sienna by Casablanca dress was the first one I tried on at Suite Bridal and we all loved it, but I was sure the first dress couldn’t be the one!  I tried on at least a dozen more dresses, but couldn’t get this one out...

A Tribute

A Wedding Dress StoryBy: Michelle N. “My parents Michel & Elizabeth D. were married on July 25, 1959 in LaPorte, Indiana. My father is an immigrant from Belgium and my mother was an immigrant from the Netherlands. My mother purchased her dress at Robertson’s department store in South Bend, Indiana. Her gown is being restored as a tribute.“ Michelle’s Mother’s Wedding Dress Restoration When we received Michelle’s mother’s lace gown, it had moderately aged with yellowing and oxidation stains primarily at the top of the dress. Laura’s Dress was “Love at First Sight”

A Wedding Dress StoryBy Laura H. “The search for my wedding dress was such a special day! My mom, mother-in-law, maid of honor, bridesman, and I made a day of it. It is one of my favorite memories of the wedding planning experience.  My dress came from RK Bridal in New York City, and was one of the first dresses I tried on. True to the experience of many brides, my wedding dress ended up being nothing like I had imaged I would wear on my wedding day. I thought for sure that I didn’t want a strapless dress or beading, but the consultant encouraged me to give it a...
