A Wedding Dress Story by Amber

Wedding Dress Shopping For The Fun of It My husband, Matt, and I were married on June 7th 2014 in Dillon Colorado. The very first time I tried on dresses it was mostly for fun and to try to determine what kind of wedding dress I really wanted because I was torn between two different ideas — a form fitting basic lace gown or a simple satin ball gown look. I made appointments at three different shops and brought along my mom and Matt (because it was all for fun and I didn’t plan on finding a dress yet). I tried on a bunch of dresses at the first two stores and had a great time but...

A Wedding Dress Story: by Caitlyn

A Wedding Dress Story:  From Magazine to Marriage Once the decision was made to have a destination wedding at our vacation spot in Stone Harbor, N.J., I knew I wanted to find a wedding dress that had more of a casual, nautical feel. Hayley Paige had just introduced “Guindon,” an ivory striped organza gown that I saw in a magazine and it appealed to me because it was a little different. My mother and I searched to find a store that carried that dress but couldn’t find it in our surrounding area. We live in Maryland and traveled to Bridal Beginnings in Mt. Lebanon, PA to try...

An Embroidered Wedding Dress Cleaning

All About the Wedding Dress Diana’s silk satin gown is beautiful. Strapless, with a fitted bodice, the wedding dress is embroidered with crystals and seed-beads. The embroidery covers the skirt and the train area. The wedding dress is topped off with a cute bow on the back. When we received the gown, it was very dirty and the train was stained with grease, dirt, and a yellow spill. There were also make-up and perspiration on both underarms and inside the bodice. Pinkish stains dotted the front, in the middle of the embroidery. The crystals had also started to transfer blue dye onto the...

One Intense Wedding Dress Cleaning

A Beautiful Wedding Dress Gone Bad Edelwisa had a beautiful wedding day in Hawaii. Unfortunately, the beautiful outdoor wedding resulted in chunks of mud gathered on the hem and a smell of algae. It was the first time that we had to open a shipping box outside on its arrival. Clearly, the dress had been well used on the most important day of Edelwisa’s life. We were excited to see what we could do to help. Edelwisa’s gorgeous wedding dress was made by Veluz, a Filipino designer. The dress’s bodice is covered in beads and has a ribbon around the waste. The wedding gown also...

A Wedding Dress with Pockets

A Wedding Dress Story by Sarah Fribley I bought the gown at Blossom’s Bridal in Dublin, Ca. It is called the “Camilla” by Wtoo. Our wedding was on June 7, 2014 at the UC Botanical Gardens at Berkeley Mather Redwood Grove and the reception was at Piedmont Community hall.  I really loved wearing the dress; it was actually really very comfortable and the best part: it has pockets!!!  I wanted a bridal gown but not one that was typical, and I loved the appliqué.  This one really fits my personality and Chad (my husband) said it was perfect. All photos courtesy of Bogdan...

From Puppy Love to Wedding Dress Alterations

A Wedding Dress Story by Lara Curtis My husband and I met at a mutual friend’s pre-deployment backyard BBQ and our dogs (my 70lb German Shepherd and his 15lb rescued beagle mix) instantly fell in love so it was by God’s grace that we too fell in love. We are both military, so in between my fiancé deploying and my long TDY’s, planning a wedding was challenging at best. I was lucky enough to find my wedding dress at the first shop I went to. However, once it arrived it was several sizes too big and so began the drastic alterations. My gown went from an A-line to a trumpet...

Jordan Found Her Wedding Dress in the Nick of TIme

Amber Tells Her Daughter’s Wedding Dress Story I had flown up from South Carolina to join my daughter Jordan for her appointment at Rizik’s in Washington, DC to be measured for and order her wedding gown; after a couple of visits to try on gowns, she had finally settled on an all lace, very fitted Jim Hjelm wedding dress that we were both certain was “her” dress. Since we were a few minutes early and they were busy with other customers, we were idly browsing the racks when I spotted this glamorous, 30’s style satin Jenny Packham gown. I pulled it from the rack...

Wearing a Vera Wang Wedding Dress

A Wedding Dress Story by Kath W My Vera Wang gown is made of four different kinds of lace. The bodice is covered with layers of corded leaf lace and a fine circular netted lace, while the skirt swirls with organza, chantilly lace, circular netted lace, and bands of horsehair. I altered the wedding dress to have a sweetheart, scoop-like neckline, and also wore a Rosa Clara belt. We purchased my gown and accessories from the Nordstrom’s Bridal Suite in Scottsdale, Arizona. Derek and I got married at Chateau St. Jean Winery in Kenwood, California on September 27th, 2014. Our ceremony and...

The Beginnings of a Wedding Dress Heirloom

A Wedding Dress Story by Sammie E I was married to my sweetheart, Ian, on July 26, 2013 in Newberg, Oregon. One of the many blessings surrounding our wedding story was Ian’s mother, Jane, graciously making my wedding gown. We picked out everything she needed together at Fabric Depot in Portland, Oregon. Her creation was absolutely breathtaking, as well as practical and sentimental. My buttons were roses, a nod to my family’s heritage. The wedding dress bustled in such a way that the back looked smooth (instead of pilled up). The underlying material was a cotton silk blend, so it...

A Wedding Dress Designed by Veluz

A Wedding Dress Story by Edelwisa My wedding dress was custom-made by a famous Filipino designer, Veluz. She resides in the Philippines and she is very known for the intricate details of her gown. I wore the wedding dress when I married my husband, Tetsuya Fukaishi, in Disney Aulani in Hawaii last May 18, 2014. We did a postnup pictorial on top of the Haleakala Crater in Maui, which what I think caused the dress to be so dirty. More pictures of Edelwisa in Her Wedding...
