       Testimonials

I just wanted to say thank you so much for the beautiful work you did on preserving my dress...it was three years before I finally had it done and by that time I thought it was going to be too late. I was afraid I had let my dress get ruined by not having it preserved right after my wedding. Luckily I found your company. I already had some yellow markings on my dress which I am so grateful were able to be removed by the cleaning process. I love the bagged method because at anytime I know I can look at my dress. More importantly I know my dress is being preserved in its original shape and form. I was always very worried about having my dress sit in a box with creases setting in the delicate material for years and eventually weakening and damaging the material.

One other thing I really love about your technique of preserving is how sweet and personal the dress is preserved. I like having the date, place, and mine and my husbands names inscribed on the bag for a more personal touch and future memories. Anyway thank you again so much. I would most definitely recommend your company and style of preservation to anyone. In fact I already have. Thanks again, good luck, and take care.

Wedding Gown Cleaners - Experience Rules

Pressing a wedding gown

Does your local cleaner have the necessary skills to safely care for wedding gowns? He might do a great job pressing shirts but does he have the skills for delicate bridal fabrics and trims? And do his employees take the necessary care to ensure your gown looks great after cleaning? Experience is probably the most important factor to consider in selecting a cleaner for your wedding gown.

Many years ago dry-cleaners were required to take courses to learn how to properly care for specialty garments before they could open up their business. But over the years, government regulations changed.Passing garment care courses are no longer required for dry-cleaners to operate their dry-cleaning shops. Now it is up to individual dry-cleaners to learn the proper methods of cleaning different fabrics and removing various stains. This is why experience is so valuable.

If your gown is silk it is even more important that you find an experienced dry-cleaner. Silk is more difficult to clean and press than synthetic fabrics and requires a truly skilled cleaner. Silk satin often chafes easily, and an inexperienced cleaner may actually damage your beautiful gown unintentionally while trying to remove stains.

How to Find an Experienced Wedding Dress Cleaner
Check with your local bridal shops to see whom they use and recommend. Ask more than one bridal shop. Bridal shops have wedding gowns cleaned on a regular basis. They can probably give you good advice.

Dry-cleaning and Laundry Institute (formerly known as International Fabricare Institute) offers excellent courses on dry-cleaning, including wedding dress cleaning. Individual dry-cleaners who truly want to do a good job can take these courses. You can locate cleaners from your area who are members of this organization on their website, although there is no guarantee that these cleaners have taken the courses offered. But call them up and find out.

Another great way to find experienced wedding dress cleaners is to call around and ask the following questions:

  1. How many wedding gowns does the dry-cleaning shop clean in a month? A year?
  2. Who actually does the cleaning and pressing of their customers' wedding gowns? Often one very skilled person will have this job.
  3. How experienced is this individual?
  4. What kind of insurance does the cleaner have?
  5. Are you protected if they damage your gown?
