By Karen B.

I was the first person to wear this wedding dress. I purchased it in Virginia in 1985 for my wedding in August of that year.

The veil was a family heirloom and was 100 years old at that time. I tried to match the color and the lace of the veil when I selected my wedding gown.

My daughter Catie M. 30 years later decided to re-purpose my wedding dress for her wedding in September 2015. We had the dress completely taken apart and reassembled in a more modern silhouette.

We were lucky to work with a talented seamstress who could execute my daughters vision. It was unfortunate the veil no longer exists. Her wedding was held at our home in Massachusetts in September 2015.

Wedding Dress Preservation for Family Heirloom

We love multi generational wedding gowns! They have history and memories woven right into the gown.  This gown required special care as the metal buttons down the back would rust if not removed before treatment.  The ivory wedding gown with bodice of vintage alencon lace and skirt of synthetic satin also had a severely dirty hemline that required special care to bring it back to pristine condition.

It is now fresh and clean and properly stored with our acid-free, lignin-free Heritage Box™ wedding dress preservation so it will be ready for the next generation to wear.
