Great Gatsby Wedding Dress
Our wedding theme was inspired by “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald so we stylized all the wedding details in art deco 1920’s style. My wedding dress had to go with the vision of the era as well as be comfortable and light enough to dance the night away in a hot month of August. I have to say that the dress found me for there was no real hunt for it.
Two months after the engagement, my mom and I went to Moscow, Russia, to visit our family and friends. Since I still had a whole year to prepare for the wedding, I was not actively looking for a wedding dress. We were on vacation, however, and wanted to pass time as well as realized that Moscow, being so close to Europe, would have a different stock of wedding gowns in stores than the United States. We simply wanted to check out a few bridal salons for inspiration and have fun! Well…I found my wedding dress in the first store and out of the three dresses I tried on (all Jenny Packham – I simply love her aesthetic!) my Muscari dress was the first I put on. It was a dream: breathtakingly beautiful with all the crystal detail and streamlined in silk to allow me to feel comfortable and move as I please. I was sold and so was the dress!
