Tips from the Brangelina Wedding: Bringing Your Family Together

Almost one year ago, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, commonly referred to in the tabloids as “Brangelina,” held a marriage ceremony in the South of France– planned by their six kids. Walking their mother down the aisle, gathering flowers from the garden, writing their parents’ wedding vows, and even baking a cake were just a few of the responsibilities the children took on to bring the family together and make the Pitt-Jolie wedding day special. A Unique Twist on a Designer Gown: Angelina Jolie’s Wedding Dress The most unique and gossip-worthy aspect of the...

It seems like this new year is already flying by! With all the details that brides need to plan for, it can feel overwhelming to realize that you haven’t picked out your wedding dress. But not to panic! We took a look at three wedding dress designers’ 2015 collection and gathered our favorites from our favorite trend: sheer fabric with lace. Wedding Dress Trends Why we love it: We love illusion shoulders! The sheer fabric allows the lace to create a beautiful cap sleeve. We love the contrast between the white lace and the different skin tones. It makes each look lovely. Why we...

Wearing a Vera Wang Wedding Dress

A Wedding Dress Story by Kath W My Vera Wang gown is made of four different kinds of lace. The bodice is covered with layers of corded leaf lace and a fine circular netted lace, while the skirt swirls with organza, chantilly lace, circular netted lace, and bands of horsehair. I altered the wedding dress to have a sweetheart, scoop-like neckline, and also wore a Rosa Clara belt. We purchased my gown and accessories from the Nordstrom’s Bridal Suite in Scottsdale, Arizona. Derek and I got married at Chateau St. Jean Winery in Kenwood, California on September 27th, 2014. Our ceremony and...

Five Ways to Balance Time With Other Couples (Including Ones You Don’t Love)

Maintaining Friendships With Other Couples One of the most interesting phenomenons occurs soon after you are married. As you and your spouse continue to want to spend time together (hopefully not a phenomenon), you notice yourselves having opinions of other couples and soon find that you must strategically plan how to spend time with them. After all, there are much higher odds that at least one member of the two couples doesn’t particularly like another person than all four equally enjoying each others’ company. It is also just as likely that just because one spouse doesn’t...

A Wedding Dress Story: Married in Virginia Beach

This dress was worn by Lyndy Wilcox when she married Kenneth Surkin at the Lesner Inn in Virginia Beach on February 14, 2014. Lyndy’s wedding dress story I always wanted to go to Kleinfeld’s to find my wedding dress, but so mother-in-law-to-be could come for the shopping trip, we decided to go to Bridals by Lori in Atlanta. My mom, my sister, and my mother-in-law-to-be all joined me shopping at two different bridal shops in Atlanta. At the first shop, we had no luck. Then we went to Bridals by Lori. After looking through all the racks, we found this dress and it was the first one...

A Bride Literally Says Yes to the Dress

The bride finds the perfect wedding dress The story of the gown choice began at Kleinfeld Bridal in New York. Maredith (the bride) was accompanied by her mom and bridesmaids. A wonderful sales person listened to Maredith’s ideas and made choices of about seven gowns. The 3rd one she tried on was the Dennis Basso design. The moment she put it on, we could tell that it was a definite contender. She tried on all the rest and then went back to the Dennis Basso dress. She walked out to the front room and stood on a small podium to show the full grandeur of the skirt. The sales lady come...

As Good as New

A Wedding Dress Cleaning Deborah’s Anjolique wedding gown is stunning. With 3-D flowers on the front with appliques of crystals and a satin belt, this gown is lovely. Malfroy tulle creates a layered look on the skirt and beads line the edges of this gown. Like many gowns after a festive wedding day, when we received the gown, there was make-up and perspiration inside the bodice and under the arms. There was also a red wine stain on the front of the skirt. The hemlines were dirty and some of the tulle had been damaged from being dragged on weeds. We gave this dress the royal...

Running Around San Francisco

A Wedding Dress Story by Nikki Moriarty I absolutely fell in love with this dress the second I put it on. It hugged my body in all the right places and was so elegant with a dash of fun! The tool at the bottom made me feel like a princess. We traveled all over San Francisco the morning of our wedding. From the Ferry Building to the cable cars. From Market street to Treasure Island, that dress traveled well – and had the dirt to show for it! More about Nikki’s gown Nikki Marciano Moriarty on Saturday, October 19, 2013. She bought it at Elegant Lace in...

Making Black Hemlines White Again

Eliana’s Martine Liana gown is beautiful! With silk dupioni and lace, and a bodice with three-dimensional flowers made of organza and taffeta, the dress has a perfect springtime flair. The skirt is also laced with flowers and the veil has lace appliques and a thin satin trimming. When we received the dress, it had a slightly dirty bodice and very dirty hemlines on each layer of the dress. We hand cleaned the dress and treated it with spot and our silk wet care process. We hand pressed the gown and veil and finally used the Heritage Select. Eliana can now admire her good as new wedding...
