Brooke's Wedding Gown

I bought my dress unexpectedly at David’s Bridal. It was my first time dress shopping and I had scheduled an appointment to try on dresses there just to get an idea of the styles I liked. I thought I was safe from falling in love with a dress that day because I never imagined myself in a David’s Bridal dress… Boy was I wrong. I tired on a dress and loved the elegant simplicity. It was classic. After initially leaving the store without the dress, I ended up returning that night to purchase it.

This dress has special meaning to me because my mother-in-law is an amazing seamstress and although she has retired, she did the alterations. It has such special significance to me to have so much love and effort go into the dress I wore the day I married my best friend. She did an amazing job and it was the perfect dress to wear for our August wedding.

My husband and I were married in the gorgeous historic The Benson Hotel that was built in 1913. My dress fit that scene perfectly. Unfortunately, after a very mild summer, it was 105 degrees on our wedding day and the hotel’s AC broke. So I was pretty hot under my 8-layered dress, but it was absolutely worth it. Even with the heat, our day was perfect. We all had a terrific time. What more could a bride ask for? 🙂
